Learners may include those with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties (BESD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mild or moderate learning difficulties (MLD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).

They are typically working between Entry Level 2 and Level 1 and want to develop their study skills and improve their social integration within a mainstream environment.

On this course, you will learn:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE)
  • Employability
  • Enrichment
  • In‑house work experience

Teaching is tailored to individual EHCP outcomes and learners’ personal goals.

You will be assessed through the OCN Level 1 qualification framework and includes portfolio work, practical learning tasks and progress measured against personalised study and employability goals.

Learners are supported to meet expectations such as managing time, working towards deadlines and adapting to a faster-paced learning environment, ensuring development aligns with their EHCP outcomes.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 2 (E) or above.

As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress into Year 2 of the Vocational Pathways programme, mainstream vocational courses, employability programmes or supported internships, depending on their readiness, confidence and academic development.
