This course is designed for young people aged 16-18 or up to 24 with an EHCP, who have Special Educational Needs.

Learners may include individuals with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties (BESD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mild or moderate learning difficulties (MLD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).

They are typically working between Entry Level 2 and Level 1 and wish to develop their study, employability and personal social skills.

Teaching is tailored to individual EHCP outcomes and learners’ personal goals.

You will be assessed through OCN entry‑level vocational qualification requirements.

You are assessed through practical activities, portfolio work and progress towards personalised goals that support the development of communication, numeracy, employability and independence.

Assessment is aligned with each learner’s EHCP outcomes and individual developmental needs.

You will need to be aged 16-18 or up to 24 with an EHCP and have an identified Special Educational Need and/or learning difficulty.

You should be working towards Entry Level 2. All applicants complete an assessment or interview to ensure the programme is appropriate for your needs and offers the most suitable progression route.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress into vocational pathways, Skills for Progression courses, employability programmes, supported internships or other SEND‑focused routes depending on their individual development and aspirations.

This course supports learners in building the essential study and employability skills required for further progression.

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
