Our offer to schools

Our offer to schools.

Campus Tours

We offer tailored campus tours to groups of students who would like to see the college in action. These take place during college hours for students to experience what it would be like to study here after leaving school. These tours are available at all our sites.

Taster Days

Our taster days are the perfect opportunity for future students to experience college life first-hand! With a mix of fun, interactive activities and hands-on sessions, your students can explore different subjects, meet our passionate tutors and immerse themselves into their chosen career paths. Whether it’s trying out practical workshops, joining in group challenges or getting a feel for our facilities, the day is designed to be engaging and inspiring. It’s not just about learning what we offer - it’s about discovering where their future could take them.

Workshops

Our one-hour workshops are a great way to dive into a subject your students are curious about, without a big time commitment. Each session is fast-paced, interactive and designed to give them a real taste of what studying that course is like. From hands-on practical tasks to creative problem-solving and group activities, they'll get the chance to explore new skills while having fun. Best of all, they can enjoy these sessions at our College or we can bring these workshops to your school, so you and your students can enjoy the experience in a familiar setting, while discovering what our College has to offer.

Careers Fairs and Assemblies

Our School Engagement Officer regularly attends careers fairs and hosts engaging assemblies to showcase the exciting opportunities available at our College. These sessions give students the chance to hear first-hand about our wide range of courses, discover the pathways open to them and ask any questions they may have about their next steps. If your school would like to arrange a visit or find out more, please email schools@bdc.ac.uk

Open Events

We open our college doors throughout the year to everyone. This is a chance for potential students and parents/carers to come along and meet course tutors, tour the different subject areas, gain advice from our Careers Guidance team and it is even possible to apply for a course, have an interview and be accepted there and then. See our college calendar for the full list of Open Events.

Careers Advice

We have a dedicated Careers Team here at Barking & Dagenham College and this is available for all pre-16 students to engage with. Come along to our drop-in advice sessions, or book a slot to ensure you receive impartial information, advice and guidance for your career and the courses that can get you to where you want to be.

Sports Trials

At our Rush Green Campus, we run several sports trials throughout the year for potential recruits onto our Rugby and Football Academy. For more information, come along to one of our taster sessions or contact us to find out more.

Special Educational Needs Disability Provision

If your students have a SEN and/or disability with an EHC plan, then they are entitled to a personalised taster session in a subject of their choice. They can be accompanied by a parent/carer or teacher and enjoy a 1:1 session on our campus, where they will be provided with all the information about the college’s extra provision and the courses available to them.

Outreach Activities

The Engagement team would be delighted to visit schools, academies or community venues and to deliver support at parent events, staff meetings, assemblies, careers and employability showcases, as well as presenting hands-on inspiring sessions to student groups.
