This Entry Level course is a foundation into hair and beauty, which is designed to build on your interest and passion for the hair and beauty industry, covering a wide range of skills from styling, plaiting, and twisting to basic make up and nail art.

This course will help you learn how to build a portfolio, generate evidence, as well as develop basic hairdressing skills. It is ideal if you do not have any prior qualifications.

We are excited for the opening of our new salon in September 2024. This facility will provide students in all hair and beauty courses with a professional space to develop and refine their skills, preparing them for successful careers in the industry.

Within this course you will start to develop your skills as a trainee hairdresser and you will learn skills in Shampoo and conditioning and hair styling. You will also be given opportunity to experience the commercial Salon gaining valuable skills and experience.

The units for this course include:

  • Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector
  • Presenting a Professional Image in a Salon
  • Shampoo and Conditioning
  • Styling Women’s Hair
  • Plaiting and Twisting Hair

Throughout this course you will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding, as well as complete end of unit online GOLA exams.

You will need to demonstrate an interest and passion for the industry and commitment to study.

This course leads you to progression onto the next level of hairdressing either Level 1 or Level 2.

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
