Hair and beauty students from the Technical Skills Academy in Barking are took part in an exchange programme in Rethymnon, Crete.
The eighteen students are the first from the Academy to participate in the Erasmus exchange programme. It partners with local businesses so that the students can experience working in different environments in different countries.
The two-week initiative will see them work in local spas and hair salons Monday to Friday, giving them time to explore the area at weekends.
Lee Demmel, Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty said:“It’s such a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience local culture and traditions and share good industry practices that may differ from country to country. They are building their confidence and those all important employability skills too.”
