This comprehensive hairdressing course is a perfect blend of theory and practical training designed to prepare you for a successful career in the hair industry.

From understanding the inner workings of the hair industry to mastering practical skills like client consultation, shampooing, cutting, and styling hair, this course covers it all.

In this course, you will start with the basics, ensuring you can effectively communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences. You will learn:

  • The foundational principles of working within the hair industry
  • Essential skills for client consultation and communication
  • Practical techniques for shampooing and conditioning hair
  • Cutting and styling hair, including advanced dressing techniques
  • Specialised skills in plaiting and twisting hair

You will be assessed through practical observations in line with awarding body standards and requirements.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 3 (D) or above.

Gain invaluable work experience through our strong industry and employer links. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Work in our Hair Bar, where clients of all ages will come to you for haircuts and consultations
  • Participate in visits to Wella Studios for training from top stylists
  • Practise your skills by cutting hair for family and friends, and in professional environments arranged through our connections with London Business Hubs

Upon completion of this course, you will be well-prepared to progress to our Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Women's Hairdressing. This advanced course will provide you with exposure to more clients and the practice needed to secure employment in the hair industry.

Career progression

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
