This course covers a wide range of topics that reflect real roles and responsibilities within social care. You’ll develop an understanding of person-centred care and the values that underpin professional practice.

Topics you’ll study include:

  • The care and support planning process
  • Values and behaviours in social care
  • Mental health and wellbeing

  • Dementia awareness
  • Health and safety
  • Prevention and control of infection
  • Personal and professional development

You’ll study 23 core units over two years and complete a minimum of 50 hours of required work placement to gain experience in a real care environment.

You’ll be assessed through an internally assessed portfolio of work, with assessment dates scheduled and marked by the curriculum team.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 4 (C) or above.

As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.
