The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting is a great choice if you’re already working in an accounting role and are looking to progress your career, or have completed the AAT Level 3 and want to study at a higher level.
This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills across a range of systems that will help to enhance the control environment of the organisation. Using a range of methods, you will learn to advise a business in a variety of situations. You will also gain an appreciation of the methods used to deal with the issues surrounding both short-term and long-term decision making.
In this unit you will focus on the three fundamental areas of management accounting: planning, control and decision making. All organisations rely on the provision of accurate, business-focused information in order to make sound business judgements.
This module can be studied in isolation to build you knowledge in this specific area, or studied alongside other AAT accredited modules, to lead to an AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.

You’ll need to complete all modules to be awarded the full AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.
In this course you will be taught to understand the budgetary process, how to construct budgets and then identify and report both on areas of success and on areas that should be of concern to key stakeholders. You will also gain the skills required to critically evaluate organisational performance.
By the end of this module you'll be able to:
- Understand and implement the organisational planning process
- Use internal processes to enhance operational control
- Use techniques to aid short-term and long-term decision making
- Analyse and report on business performance
You will complete online assessments.
You’ll need to have GCSE Grade 4 and above in both English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent and you will also need to have completed the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting at Level 3 to study on this programme.
Tutors are qualified accountants with years of experience in industry and in delivering AAT qualification courses.

Successful completion of the full AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting gives you a variety of career options.
You can move into employment in fields such as Forensic Accounting or Corporate Finance, or specialise in taxation or insolvency.
If you want to continue your studies, you may be able to jump onto the 2nd year of accounting degree programmes of some Universities.
Whatever you choose, you can apply for full AAT membership. This will boost your employment opportunities.
You could also progress to study for Chartered and Certified Accountancy qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW.
