This course will help you gain the skills and techniques necessary to pursue a career in the Creative Industries.

Throughout this 1 year course you will learn the skills to develop informed ideas, problems solving, technical skills, professional practice and express your ideas through different forms of communication.

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to the second year, the BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design Practice, to further develop your skills and understanding.

This qualification gives you the opportunity to develop your technical art and design skills through a process of critical evaluation, practice and review, which are key skills for progression to higher education or into work.

Work placements give students industry knowledge and experience - and there's the chance to do these in cities such as Berlin and Barcelona!

Written, practical assessments and coursework.

You will have achieved 4 or more GCSE grades at 4 and above including either English Language or Maths, or have successfully completed an appropriate Level 2 qualification.

You will also need to provide a portfolio of work, as well as a reference.

You'll have opportunities to answer real 'live' project briefs within specialist areas of art and design as part of the course.

30 hours of work experience form part of the course, and work experience placements are arranged - some of them possibly in European cities!

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to the second year, the BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design Practice, to further develop your skills and understanding. On completion of the second year, you could progress to Higher Education.

Alternatively, you could progress into employment, an internship or an Apprenticeship.

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
