“I’ve always had an artistic mind, and I love showing my creative side”.
Last year, 3D Design student Leo was recognised as a young and upcoming designer when he won an award for his aluminum packaging design.
Leo relocated and enrolled on a Level 1 Carpentry course at Barking & Dagenham College. He soon realised that Carpentry wasn’t the career route he wanted to take and decided to choose 3D design instead. 3D Design was the perfect course for Leo, where he feels he fits into an inclusive environment and where he can really showcase his creative side. Leo loves the limitless aspect of the course - when he designs, he has the artistic freedom to create whatever he wants.
Alongside his study, Leo has his own business with peer and friend, Natalie and they have received a great amount of support and advice from tutors. Leo says, ‘our tutors have a lot of experience and knowledge, so their advice was taken on board – Natalie and I have had great business growth since’.
Leo is now off to UEL in October, to continue his studies. Once he has graduated, he’d love to go into design, as either a product or furniture designer. Whilst studying his undergraduate degree, he’d also like to secure more clients for his and Natalie’s business. You can view and follow Leo and Natalie's business here: @thiscoupledesigns
Talented Leo is now a finalist for another competition, the Popai Student Design Awards, to be announced this October.
“This course has changed me for the better. I’ve really been able to show my creativity in this course, doing what I love and by being myself. I’ve also been able to focus on self-ambition and my career. All my tutors have been supportive, and I’ve developed great relationships with them, as well as with my peers. I’d highly recommend the 3D Design course”.
