This course is designed to help you develop your creative skills and explore your interests in animation and visual effects within a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
You will be encouraged to experiment, take creative risks and challenge your own ideas, while working in professional facilities alongside experienced tutors who will support your growth and progression within a rapidly expanding creative industry.
You will work with industry-standard software and respond to professional-style briefs, gaining insight into how animation and VFX projects are developed in real-world settings.
By the end of the programme, you will be well prepared to progress to university or move directly into industry-related opportunities.
On this course, you will learn:
- Principles of animation
- 2D and 3D animation techniques
- 3D modelling
- Compositing for live-action footage
- Digital image editing
- Film language, production pipelines and workflows
- How to respond to professional-style briefs
- How animation and VFX projects are developed in industry contexts
You will also gain experience working in specialist media and games labs equipped with professional hardware and software, including Adobe Animate, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Maya, Blender and Adobe Lightroom, using Apple iMac workstations with the full Adobe Creative Suite.
Alongside practical work, your learning will be supported by relevant theory and industry context.
You will be assessed through a combination of coursework and portfolio work.
You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 4 (C) or above.
