The Level 2 City and Guilds Extended Technical Occupational Entry in Light Vehicle Service and Maintenance is designed to prepare you for real work in today’s motor industry.
This qualification is fully aligned with the Autocare Technician standard, which means what you learn reflects real jobs, real workshops and real employer expectations.
You’ll develop practical, hands-on skills that employers and apprenticeships are looking for, helping you feel confident that your training is relevant, up to date and industry approved. This course is focused on getting you job-ready, not just gaining a qualification.
Throughout this course, you’ll learn the same skills used in modern automotive workplaces. You’ll develop practical experience in servicing, maintenance and inspection, alongside the knowledge needed to understand how vehicles operate and how the industry works.
You’ll build confidence in customer service, communication and sales principles, as well as understanding stock control procedures used in workshops. You’ll also develop technical knowledge across a range of vehicle systems, including chassis, propulsion systems and electrical components.
The course also helps you understand sustainability, health and safety, and the wider automotive industry, giving you a clear picture of career opportunities available to you.

You’ll be assessed through a combination of coursework, practical assessments and exams, allowing you to demonstrate both your knowledge and hands-on skills.
You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 3 (D) or above.
