If you want to start your sports coaching career...this is the course for you.

This is a practical and hands-on course that is a direct entry into coaching children on completion of the programme.

You will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours of coaching, including planning, implementing, and reviewing the delivery of your coaching sessions with Key Stage 1 children and above.

As part of this you will deliver coaching sessions at Rush Green School to develop and improve your coaching practice. You’ll do this within your timetable but also deliver additional sessions.

On completion of the course, you’ll be offered a guaranteed interview with our coaching employer. By building up your coaching experience as part of your course, you’ll be in a better position to be offered a paid coaching role with them. We will help you prepare for this interview, and if you are successful, you could gain employment as an Assistant Team Leader, paying £10 per hour on a part-time basis.

To complete the course, you will be assessed by your tutor/coach via a portfolio. There will also be other assessments from the school you are working in and the employer 2 times in the year to demonstrate your progress on the course.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 3 (D) or above.

As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.

On completion of this course, you will be interviewed by a local coaching employer for a part-time Assistant Coach role in coaching children. This will pay £10-12 per hour.

Alternatively, you could look to progress to a level 3 course. There are other opportunities for paid (full time) employment within the school environment as well, which would be delivering P.E. within schools.

As another option, you could look to progress to an apprenticeship as a Community, Sport and Health Officer Level 3 - helping to improve the health outcomes of the local and wider community to live productive and physically active lives.
