Are you thinking about a career in the emergency services, army or civil service?
This course includes a number of talks with current Protective Services workers, as well as outward bounds trips and a week-long residential stay in Wales!
You'll learn practical skills that'll be useful in working environments. These include teamwork, problem-solving and effective communication.
You'll also develop specialist skills such as map reading, orienteering, and use of technology.
There are a range of assessments for this course:
- Practical
- Observations
- Group work
- Presentations
- Written assignments
You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 3 (D) or above.
As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.

Successfully completing this course means you can progress to Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services, also offered at Barking & Dagenham College.
