Safeguarding & Prevent
Student safety is our top priority.
We take the safety of all our students seriously. All staff are trained in Safeguarding and students hear about our safeguarding procedures when they start in college.
All students get a copy of the Staying Safe leaflet during induction. You can also download a copy of our safeguarding leaflet here.
If you have any safeguarding concerns or worries about extreme views or possible radicalisation, email our Safeguarding team at safeguarding@bdc.ac.uk or call on 020 3667 0172.
You can view our Safeguarding Policy here.
Operation Encompass
The college is taking part in a project that will run jointly between schools and colleges, and the Metropolitan Police Service.
Operation Encompass is the notification to schools and colleges that a young person (under 18) has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident. Operation Encompass will ensure that a specially trained member of staff, known as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), is informed. The DSL can then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure the wellbeing of the young person.
The college will be able to make provisions or adjustments to assist for any difficulties experienced by the young person, or the families involved.
