George Reece
George studied a BTEC Level 3 in IT from Sept 2017 – June 2019 and was awarded a triple distinction. He thoroughly enjoyed his course as it covered a wide range of topics and had supportive tutors that would take the time to explain what he needed to do to succeed in great detail.
George initially chose to study at Barking & Dagenham College because of its convenient location and great tech facilities. However, he soon found that studying at the college opened up many more opportunities for him than he expected. As part of the Erasmus programme George worked abroad for two weeks in Prague gaining experience in IT networking. He also participated in a competition in partnership with Amazon Web Services in which students from four different colleges were challenged to develop a solution within the digital space to engage young people with Comic Relief. George and his team won awards for Best presentation and most organized project.
George is currently studying Cyber Security at CU London University.
“I didn’t have the best start at college so being able to turn that around and get a triple distinction in I.T is probably my biggest achievement so far. My advice to all students would be to take advantage of every opportunity at the college as you never know where it can take you. Studying at Barking and Dagenham College has allowed me to get the grades I needed to study at University.
