Financial support

The college can help you with the cost of things like travel, food, childcare, tuition fees and course equipment and trips.

The amount of financial help we offer (called a ‘bursary’) is based on your circumstances.

There are other cost savings we can help you with no matter what your circumstances.

You can use our self-assessment form to see what financial support you might qualify for.

Otherwise, read on for more information.

Free breakfast

We offer a free breakfast to all students. It’s served in our refectory from 8am – 8:45am every weekday during term time.

Age 16-18

Tuition fees are free for all courses for 16-18 year olds.

A grant – or ‘bursary’ – to help with the costs of living as a student might be available to you.

It can help you pay for things like travel, childcare, lunch, and course books and equipment. You won’t have to pay it back.

Whether you qualify for it or not depends on circumstances such as your household income and how far away from college you live.

For further details of bursaries, what they’re for, and how to apply, read our factsheet.

Alternatively, you can call the Financial Support team on 0203 667 0050 or email them to learn more.

Under the government’s Care to Learn scheme, you can get help with childcare costs if you’re aged under 20 at the start of your course.

Read about the scheme, who qualifies, and the kinds of help you can get on the government website.

16 and 17-year-olds can get free and discounted travel on London transport services by getting an Oyster ZIP Photocard. You can read about its benefits on the TfL website.

We can help organise your photocard. Just pop in and see the Financial Support team on Advice Street at our Rush Green campus, or call us on 0203 667 0050.

Age 19+

Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 courses could be free to study, depending upon your earnings and course eligibility, and subject to Ts & Cs.

The current earnings thresholds for eligibility are:

Living in London - £21,547.50

Living outside of London - £18,525

For courses with fees, the college may be able to contribute up to 50% of the tuition fee cost.

Contact the Financial Support team on 0203 667 0050 or email them to discuss this and to request a form.

If you’re taking a course at Level 3 or above, you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Getting a loan doesn’t depend on your income. Loans are available if you meet the age, course level and citizenship criteria. If you study an Access to Higher Education course and then go on to complete a Higher Education course, your Advanced Learner Loan will be written off.
