This course has been designed to provide the ideal introduction to the Painting & Decorating industry.
You will learn the essential skills needed to help you gain an industry-recognised qualification and build a career in industry.
On this course, you will learn:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
- Preparing surfaces for decoration
- Applying paint systems using brushes and rollers
- Applying foundation and plain wallpapers
- Producing decorative finishes (e.g sponging, rag rolling, stencilling)
You will be assessed through continual assessments, including portfolios and worksheets.
You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 2 (E) or above.
As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.
On successful completion of this course, you will have developed both practical and theoretical skills and will be able to progress onto a Level 2 course.
