The aim of this qualification is to:
- inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in the Information and Creative Technology sector
- give learners the opportunity to gain broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the Information and Creative Technology sector
- support progression to specialised Level 3 qualifications in Information and Creative Technology, or to an Apprenticeship
- give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment in a wide range of job roles.

Note: The optional units are subject to change.
The course is assessed by external exams for the core units (The Online World, Technology Systems) and the rest of the units are internally assessed by assignments using a set of work-related real-life case studies and practical demonstrations.
Timetable for this course is 3 full days a week. As a full-time student, you will follow a study programme consisting of a vocational extended certificate, maths and English, work experience and a tutorial.
You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 3 (D) or above.
