On this course, you'll develop a broad understanding of the computing sector.
You'll explore a choice of areas, enabling progression to either higher education, employment or an apprenticeship in the computing sector.
The qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that will prepare learners for further study or training. Learners have the opportunity to develop a significant core of knowledge in computer science, as well as additional skills in systems analysis and design, systems methodology, computer programming and product development and testing.
Six mandatory units:
• principles of computer science
• fundamentals of computer systems
• planning and management of computer projects
• IT systems security and encryption
• business applications of social media
• the impact of computing.

Website Development
Computer Networking
Assessment includes a range of types and styles using a set of work-related real-life case studies and practical demonstrations.
You will complete external, internal and synoptic exams, assignments and timed projects.
You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 4 (C) or above.

On successful completion of the course, you can progress onto an Undergraduate course at the University, a Level 3/4 Apprenticeship or can start Junior level employment in the following areas:
