Taught online this level 3 apprenticeship provides first-line cyber security support and an inside working of all aspects of cyber security.

This apprenticeship for cyber security helps get a hands on feel for all sectors where information is held digitally and where that information is an asset that needs to be protected including but not limited to finance, retail, telecoms, health, media, manufacturing and local authorities.

The broad purpose of the apprenticeship is to provide first line cyber security support. This requires individuals to monitor and detect potential security threats and escalate as necessary and to support secure and uninterrupted business operations of an organisation through the implementation of cyber security mechanisms and the application of cyber security procedures and controls. To contribute to the delivery of a security culture across an organisation, understanding vulnerabilities and threats and supporting the development of an organisation's cyber security maturity.

You will learn the procedures and controls to maintain security and control of an organisation, and process security requests ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of information stored digitally.

To achieve the apprenticeship standard all components must be completed, including Functional skills at the required level. All apprenticeship standards include an end point assessment which is required to complete the standard.

You will need to have GCSE Maths, English Language and two additional subjects at grade 4 (C) or above.

As part of the application process you will also be asked to explain why you want to study this course, so that we can ensure any course offer made aligns to your career goals.

Upon successful completion of the Data Technician apprenticeship, apprentices can progress to full-time employment, or choose to continue their development through a Level 4 Apprenticeship such as Cyber Security Technologist.
