This course is a great introduction to studying science and is an excellent stepping stone to further study or a career in science.
On this course you'll develop the foundation skills so that you're ready to progress to the Level 3 Diploma, where you can further develop your knowledge and understanding of Applied Science.

- Biotechnology Procedures and Applications
You will take part in regular practical activities and be assessed by coursework, assignments, research projects and 2 external exams.
You'll need to have at least 5 GCSEs, including grade 3 or above in Science, English and Maths to study this course.
You'll also need to demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality at school.
On successful completion of this course, you'll be able to progress to the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Applied Science or to a related Level 3 course offered at the college.
You'll also have started to develop the analytical and problem-solving skills that will stand you in good stead for a career in the science industries, and you may begin to start thinking about a career in one of the following areas: biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical science, pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiography, dentistry or nursing.
