3rd October 2016

Coffee morning and ?Bake Off? in aid of Macmillan World?s Biggest Coffee Morning and raised £130.

Local Councillor Evelyn Carpenter, who is Barking & Dagenham’s Cabinet Member for Education Attainment and School Improvement, was amongst the judges for the all-important ‘Bake Off’ assessment. They did not know who baked which cake, adding to the tension in the audience, with contestants hoping they had avoided a ‘soggy bottom’.

The winners were announced as John Peacock (and his wife), Arber (a hair dressing student) and Conner (one of the security guards), who each received Great British Bake Off books as prizes.

All the remaining cakes were then sold by volunteers outside the Technical Skills Academy to the local community and shoppers.

Head of the Technical Skills Academy Hilary Moore said: “What a great example of fabulous cake baking - it was a hard job for the three judges.

“There was some great community spirit on show and everyone had a lot of fun, especially as we were very lucky with the weather again this year.”
