BDC students have raised £400 for Children in Need.
The students, who are studying Childcare at the college, decided that they wanted to raise money for charity and set about coming up with ideas on how they could do it.
As their future careers will be in the early years, raising money for Children in Need felt like a natural fit, especially because of the amazing things the charity is doing for children across the country.
After discussing their ideas in class, they decided to set up a college raffle. They then spent four days going around the college selling tickets to all the students and staff they met!
All the students donated a packet of biscuits and a bar of chocolate for the hampers and then wrapped and created the hampers themselves.
Jannat Malik, 18, a second-year Level 3 Childcare student said: “I found the fundraiser extremely inspiring, and I felt very charitable whilst involved. This event made me feel like a better person and I discovered new skills and abilities whilst taking part too.”
Alison Fordham, Early Years Course tutor at BDC said: “The students have done so well. They were really keen to raise money for Children in Need and they were brilliant. They worked really hard, and it was a joy to watch them come together and achieve such an amazing result – especially when times are so tough for everyone. We’re all really proud of them and can’t wait to see what they do next year!”
