For the 7th year running, ?Wrap up London? has collected peoples? old, unwanted coats and given them to charities that support the homeless, refugees, children living in poverty and people fleeing domestic violence (to name a few).
Over the course of two weeks, the students, led by 17 year old Priyanka Mehmi from Dagenham, collected adult coats, children’s’ coats and baby coats which will be distributed by the charity to the homeless.
They set themselves a target of 500 coats, which they achieved.
Priyanka Mehmi managed a rota of students who took turns to man the coat collection point in the College each morning from 8.30- 9.30.
Giuditta Meneghetti, Curriculum Team Leader – Business and Public Services at the College assisted the students, she said: “I’m very proud of my students who have done a great job in collecting so many coats to help keep vulnerable people warm this winter.
“My staff team are also checking with the various charities whether it would be possible for students to volunteer to help sort the coats for distribution as well.”
