Students help to design logo for new Barking Riverside joint venture

26th March 2019

In January TfL awarded a £196m contract to build a 4.5km rail extension of the London Overground to Barking Riverside to a joint venture of Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure and VolkerFitzpatrick (MSVF).

Design students from Barking & Dagenham College were invited to enter a competition to design a new logo for the joint venture.

The winners of the competition were: 1st Faye Ticao, aged 20 from Dagenham, 2nd Tamera Miller, aged 21 from Romford and 3rd Migle Miezlaiskyte, aged 22 from Romford.

On Friday 22nd March the trio went to the head offices of professional design company Idea East to discuss their thoughts and ideas. The aim is for Idea East to incorporate the students’ concepts into a combined brand for the joint venture which the students will be able to use within their portfolios.

The students met Paul Manning, Founder & Director of Idea East who went through their ideas and discussed how the final logo may look. Paul also presented them with their prizes of iPads.

Faye, Tamera and Migle will be heading back to Idea East at the end of April to see their final design, which they contributed to, unveiled.
