A student from Barking & Dagenham College has seen their artwork in print as part of their work placement at Newham Council.
Mustafa Mohammed, 24, who is studying Games Art and Animation at the College recently completed some remote work experience with the team that produce the Council’s publication, the Newham Mag.
As part of the work experience Mustafa was asked to help illustrate an article which looked at helping young people in the borough deal with anxiety during the pandemic.
Mustafa jumped to the challenge and swiftly came up with a series of illustrations which feature fun graphics combined with positive slogans. He was even able to present his work to Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz during an online meeting on Youth Mental Health Awareness Day.
Mustafa said: “I really enjoyed taking part in this project. I came up with these illustrated posters to help young people in the borough to prevent stress and anxiety during lockdown and beyond. The posters feature my character designs which show my cartooning inspirations, art style and my skills.”
Katie Morgan, Mustafa’s tutor at the College added: “Mustafa has always worked really hard on his College work and this was a perfect opportunity for him. I’m so pleased that his work has had the chance to be viewed by the public. It’s a great achievement and we are all proud of him.”
