Skills and Careers Show is in the pipeline

28th April 2015

The Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe, took time out to sharpen up her plumbing skills at Barking & Dagenham College today. She had stopped by to see preparations for one of the biggest skills, careers and training events in the region - The Skills Show Experience @ BDC on Wednesday 13 May 2015.

Free event

Trainee plumber Ali Butt, 19 from Ilford, who is getting ready to take part in one of the Show’s many competitions, was on hand to help the Mayor get to grips with a new skill.

Now in its second year, The Skills Show Experience @ BDC is aimed at 14 – 25 year olds but everyone is welcome at this free event.

1,000+ visitors expected

Over 1,000 visitors are expected to attend the Show, where they can enjoy more than 50 different Have a Go activities from robot-handling to designing a mobile phone app, and from fitness challenges to a CSI-style forensic “who done it?”

Visitors can hear from top business leaders and entrepreneurs including Dan Roberts from BBC London 94.9, Harrods, Channel 4 and more.

There will also be the chance to find out about the latest job opportunities at the show’s Jobs Fair, get the inside track on Apprenticeships and Traineeships, and watch skilled young trainees in competition.
