The beauty department raising money for Macmillan World?s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September
For a small donation of £5, members of the public were invited in to The Salon at the College’s Rush Green campus for taster beauty treatments, which were carried out by 25 of the College’s hair and beauty students. Visitors could also purchase a cup of tea and a slice of cake to enjoy whilst they were being pampered.
Thirty clients came for mini treatments and an additional twenty visitors came along just for the coffee and cake!
In total they raised £263.
The organisers also invited people to remember and celebrate family and friends that have either been taken from them or who have beaten cancer with a mass balloon release. Thirty people wrote poignant messages to their loved ones on heart shape post-it notes and placed them onto balloons, which were then released in a big launch.
Lee Demmel, Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty said: “Students and staff had such a great time at the event. The students, supported by our beauty team, were given the event to organise as part of their enrichment study.
“It was great to see them plan and wholeheartedly participate in giving back to the community and raise funds for such a worthy cause. Thank you to all our visitors who helped us to make the day a success.”
