With The Great British Bake Off about to hit our screens again this week one former Barking & Dagenham College student, Michel Charles,
is forging a career out of her love of baking with her business The Little Cake Factory in White Hart Lane, Collier Row.
After learning her craft at the College, Michel ran her business from home for a number of years before demand for her creations meant she needed more space and the excitement of running her own cake shop became a reality.
“Being the boss is a 6-day a week job,” says Michel “but I love it and the positive reaction I get from customers when they see the cake they’ve ordered is fantastic.
“I did apply for The Great British Bake Off before and I might try again one day but I think running my own business is enough pressure for the time being.”
