2nd March 2022
Our students interact directly with employers to help them succeed in their career goals.
In collaboration with Care City and as part of the North East London Health Care Partnership drive to encourage and inspire more young people into local health and social care jobs, Barking and Dagenham College hosted an Employer Engagement event in the Conference Suite on the 2nd March 2022, offering an opportunity for students to meet with local employers, learn more about them and hear about any upcoming vacancies and work experience opportunities they may have.
Employers included Prestige Care, Access All Care & Training Solutions, Shreeji Training, Manorcourt Homecare, Supreme Home Care and Abbcross Nursing Home, all of whom are keen to discover new talent that can make a difference to the sector, and to help prepare the next generation of skilled workers. Around 50 of our Level 1-3 Health and Care students spent time learning about the career opportunities available to them locally, were able to introduce themselves and start building relationships with potential employers. They were able to find out what employers were looking for, and the challenges, rewards and opportunities in the roles available.
Micheala Harris & Jeanette Griffin, who are working with Care City on other projects including the E-care App, said that the event went extremely well and the learners really benefited from the feedback which included:
- I've learnt that there's more to care than care homes
- I've learnt that care is for everyone
- I've learnt that there are many opportunities in care than I ever imagined and it's open to every gender!
