Students came together for an unforgettable Go-Karting competition - all designed to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event was months in the making and involved students from all departments. Engineering and motor vehicle students first designed, constructed and fine-tuned the go-karts in a series of practice sessions, before racing them on the big day itself.
While the BDC's film students captured the journey, from the initial design sessions, through to the making of the go-karts to race day, producing a video to document the entire process.
Creative students got to add a bit of flair to the karts by designing custom bodywork for them, carpentry students designed and built the podium and the college’s sports students were on hand to run the event, managing timing, safety and support throughout the day.
With the sun shining, on the big day, the field was turned into a challenging track for the go-karts, with lots of twists and turns to keep the drivers on their toes as they tackled the course.
The whole event buzzed with energy, collaboration and creativity and it was all for a brilliant cause. Every lap helped raise awareness and funds for those affected by cancer. And it worked! The College is delighted to have raised over £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Natasha Arazi, Head of Engineering, Motor Vehicle and The East London Institute of Technology commented: “The event was a huge success. Not just in raising so much money for such a worthwhile cause, but also in how the whole college came together. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part, supported and donated. This was more than just a race - it was a showcase of talent, teamwork and heart”.
