A photography teacher from Barking & Dagenham College is one of this year?s contributors to the RCA ?Secret? exhibition.
Famous artists are amongst a group of people who contribute postcard–sized works of art which members of the public can pay £55 for. The secret twist is that the identity of the artist isn’t revealed until after they have purchased it.
RCA Secret is a fundraising exhibition, established over 20 years ago. It involves the sale of original postcard-sized artworks by internationally acclaimed artists, illustrators and designers plus up-and-coming graduates and students from the Royal College of Art. Every year RCA Secret is a veritable Who's Who of the Art and Design world! Previous contributors include: David Bowie; artists Grayson Perry and Tracey Emin; inventor Sir James Dyson; film director Mike Leigh; photographer David Bailey; designer Orla Kiely and fashion designer Paul Smith.
All proceeds go to the RCA Fund, which provides scholarships and bursaries for students who need financial support to help them complete their studies at the RCA.
Each postcard is signed only on the back, so collectors don’t know the identity of the artists until they have made their purchases. So RCA Secret is a chance to purchase original works of art for a tiny price.
David Bennett who teaches the Foundation Degree in photography at the College is participating for the second year in a row and has contributed a photographic image.
You can view and buy the postcards now until Friday 15 September and collect your cards on Saturday 16 September (or have them delivered): https://london.secret.rca.ac.uk/2017/
