It seems painting really is in the blood for the four Wrenn brothers, who have all decided to become painters and decorators!
The Hornchurch based brothers Perry, 20, Tony, 19 and twins Billy and Tommy, 18, are all studying at Barking & Dagenham College and are keen to set themselves up in the industry. They all decided that painting and decorating was the job for them, having seen other members of their family work in the trade.
Tony is studying at the College as part of his apprenticeship with Roseville, a specialist sub contract painting and decorating company. When he finishes his most recent course he hopes to continue his studies and take on more of a supervisory role at the company. Tony explains:
“I didn’t know what I wanted to do after I finished school so I enrolled on a plumbing and electrical course but it was painting and decorating that was right for me so I studied that.”
Billy will be continuing his studies at the College next year and has really enjoyed learning about the trade. He says:
“I like painting and decorating because there’s something new to do every day.”
Working for Bagnalls, which supplies commercial decorating & painting services, Billy has already worked on large projects such as Heron Tower near Liverpool Street. Twin brother Tommy also studies at the College as part of his apprenticeship with Winchmore Limited, which provides decorating and refurbishment services. For Billy it’s hanging wallpaper that he likes best and he lives by his mantra ‘preparation is decoration’!
Eldest brother Perry, 20, is about to join Tony at Roseville as an apprentice, having recently completed his qualifications. He hopes to continue his studies at Barking & Dagenham College to further his skills.
Mark Ravenhill, Project Manager for Roseville commented:
“The apprentices the College has provided us with in the past have all worked out all very well and we are hoping for the same in Perry and Tony.”
