Students and staff at the Technical Skills Academy in Barking held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan World?s Biggest Coffee Morning last Friday.
They also combined it with a (Great British) ‘Bake Off’; having some fun and selling the cakes after the judging and awards had been made. Students and staff brought along some real ‘show stoppers’, clearly having been inspired by the current series of the Great British Bake Of.
Local celebrity Liza Vallence, Studio 3 Arts CEO, was Chief Judge for the all-important assessment. The judging panel didn’t know who baked which cake, adding to the tension in the audience, with contestants hoping they have avoided a ‘soggy bottom’. All cakes were then sold to the public outside the Technical Skills Academy next to Asda.
First place went to Gill Mills (PA and Admin Supervisor), second place to student Alfie Haynes and third place to Jolaade Lawal (receptionist). They were each presented with prizes of cookery books.
The event raised over £100 for the charity.
