All 16–18-year-old students who have not yet achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE English or Maths are required to continue studying these subjects.
We
offer a wide range of additional support, resources, and activities beyond
classroom lessons.
Online Support
Students have access to two key platforms to help with their studies:
Parents and guardians can request access for both platforms.
Important Dates
- Mock exams (in class): 8th–12th December
- “Dress rehearsal” mock exam: 28th January
All students must attend, even if they do not normally come into college on that day
Key Information
- Read for 10 minutes a day – books, news articles, sports reports, stories, or anything they enjoy.
- Practise writing – short paragraphs, summaries, letters, or responses to past exam questions.
- Expand vocabulary – choose three new words a week and practise using them.
- Use online platforms – Century Tech provides personalised pathways for reading and writing skills.
- Discuss ideas – talking about books, films, or news helps build analytical thinking for GCSE English.
- Ask teachers for feedback through Google Classroom whenever they are unsure or need guidance.
The most effective way for students to improve in Maths is to practise consistently, little and often, well before exam season. They should avoid last-minute cramming.
Century Tech is an excellent platform for targeted Maths practice. Students follow three key expectations:
- Do a little bit of Maths every day.
- Aim for 100% on each “nugget” before moving on.
- Ask for help when needed.
Teachers can be contacted through Google Classroom.
