“Over the last year, I've grown a lot in my creativity”
Isaac has always loved fashion. Ever since he was young, there was nothing else he was interested in – he knew that studying fashion and going into the industry would be his career and chose Barking & Dagenham College due to the amazing facilities for Fashion and from the testimonials from people he knows.
During his time studying his Fashion course, Isaac has been able to really express himself with the many projects – he loves that there’s no creative boundaries! He’s enjoyed learning how to use and pull from different resources to create his desired fashion outcome and, learning technical skills like sewing and knitting. Isaac didn’t know many processes when he first started and is happy he’s been able to improve his skills.
During his time at college, Isaac was able to experience the real working world and attended work experience at London Fashion Week. He got to work with well-known designers and said it was an unforgettable experience.
Isaac has had incredible experiences outside of college and also at college. He attends a mentoring session once a week to guide him with different recourses and other studying and career help and has found the sessions to be really helpful in his journey. As well as help from staff and BDC services, Isaac has had a lot of support from his peers, always being there to lend advice if he needs it.
Once Isaac has completed his course, his dream is to go to Central Saint Martin’s university and continue his passion for fashion.
You can’t go wrong with the creative industries – you can learn so many skills that will help you in the future. BDC has a great atmosphere, with a great community feel. I’ve loved my year here! I’ve learnt so much on this course already and have expanded my knowledge on all aspects of fashion. I’ve also made great friends!
