Top students get ?Academy? awards

20th June 2017

Top students were honoured at the Technical Skills Academy Annual Awards on Saturday.

The winners were selected from hundreds of students to receive awards for their achievements.

Over 80 friends, family, and VIPs gathered to support the successful students. During the event, awards were presented for each subject area.

In addition, two coveted Technical Skills Academy ‘Extra’ Awards were also given out on the night. These recognised those students who have shown not only excellent attendance, work ethic and attitude, but also something 'extra' in the college or wider community.

This year’s ‘Extra’ winners, both aged 18, were Ariel Kasalako from Plaistow, a culinary arts student, and Lewis Paul from Beckton, a creative IT student. Ariel was awarded for his extra support with all catering and hospitality events, including coming in early to support the free breakfast initiative for students. Lewis was picked out for his many roles as a student ambassador, an NUS site rep and a student rep on the Technical Skills Academy Board.

Hilary Moore, Head of Technical Skills Academy commented:

Our students really deserve to be honoured in this way, and it was a pleasure to see them receive their awards in front of friends and family.
