Careers in the USA and Europe were on offer to students at the annual Care, Health and Early Learning Employment Fair at Barking & Dagenham College recently. In its fifteenth year, the fair brought together employers from across the South East, keen to attract talented students to their business.
Chris Lovelock and Gillian Rae from Esprit were looking for childcare professionals for the 2016/17 ski season across France, Austria and Italy said,
Closer to home, Leah Clarke and Sarah Hawkins, both former Barking & Dagenham College childcare students and founders of Barney Bear’s Nurseries, added“We are in full recruitment mode. This summer will be the first time we’ve offered nursery places at our Ilford branch for pre-schoolers and we need extra help. We have seen some very good candidates today and we’ve encouraged them to apply.”
Richard Griffiths (above 3rd from left) Partnership Executive at Pacey, the professional organisation for childcare and early years, added“This is a brilliant event, well organised and with loads of information. Pacey offers professional membership for students, which includes online resources to support both course work and future careers.”
Shazida Rahman, Deputy Manager from Little Unicorn Day Nursery in Canary Wharf, added
“We’re recruiting new talent and are looking for fresh faces who can bring fresh ideas to our team and we’ve met some outgoing and enthusiastic students.”
Ann McDaniel, Curriculum Director at the College added“Creating career opportunities for our students is an essential part of our work at the College. The employers here today are actively recruiting and by bringing everyone together under one roof we’re making it much easier for students to land their first job in the sector.”
