GCSE results day: are you confused about the new 9-1 grades?

As of this summer English language, English literature and maths GCSEs in England will be graded from 9 to 1, with 9 being the top grade.

These are the first subjects to use the new system, with most other subjects adopting numbers by 2019. Eventually all GCSEs taken in England will receive numerical grades. So, if you/your child are getting their results on Thursday, then they will have a mixture of numerical and letter grades.

But do you understand what the grades mean? For example do you know whether the grades you got are high enough to get onto the vocational or A-level course that you wish to do?

Barking & Dagenham College think that a lot of young people and their parents are going to be confused this Thursday and so are going to be on hand to help.

Those who have received their GCSE results can drop into the College’s Rush Green campus any time between 10am and 7pm on GCSE results day Thursday 24th August to get free advice about the new grades and options about what they can do next.
