Mother of two, Camelia Pana, 32, from Dagenham is well on her way to qualifying as a Maths teacher, thanks to her outstanding GCSE 2016 results.
Camelia, who already has a degree in Economics from an overseas university, needed these crucial GCSEs to take up her place on the PGCE course at UEL.
Her results are even more impressive when you realise that English is not her first language. Here Camelia shares her experience:
“The Lecturers at Barking & Dagenham College were lovely and supportive, and gave us loads of additional help.
“I studied every minute I could, because with children you just don’t know what’s around the corner. I studied even when they were sitting on my lap, but it was good for them to see me reading because it encourages them too.”
