Barking & Dagenham College was named as a champion of skills and training in the creative industries at an awards ceremony last night.
Individuals and organisations whose outstanding work is ensuring the UK's booming creative industries have the skilled workforce needed for continued success were recognised at a ceremony held at The Lowry, Salford on 16th April 2018.
Pauline Tambling CBE, Chief Executive of awards organisers Creative & Cultural Skills, said: “Many of our winners are the unsung heroes of our brilliant creative industries. Their inspiring work underpins current success and ensures that future generations will have the skills needed for our sector to grow and thrive."
200 hundred people attended the ceremony which took place on the eve of the Creative & Cultural Skills National Conference which this year explores the theme of Building a Creative Nation: The Future Workforce.
Training Provider of the Year Award went to The Creative Industries Team at Barking & Dagenham College; judges commented that: “they have shown great success in helping young people to gain industry-relevant skills and training. Their commitment to apprenticeships and work with industry has ensured that these experiences have strengthened their students’ opportunities for employment. The Creative & Cultural Industries team is responsible for training new talent for our sector through the courses they teach and apprenticeships they offer.”
