Students get Career Ready at the Technical Skills Academy

16th October 2015

Business leaders met at The Technical Skills Academy in Barking town centre recently to launch the Career Ready programme.

The Academy, part of Barking & Dagenham College, has partnered with the Career Ready organisation to offer opportunities for employer volunteers to prepare young people for the world of work through mentoring, masterclasses, internships or workplace visits.

Employer volunteers help local students prepare for work

Hilary Moore, Head of the Technical Skills Academy, said,

“It’s easy to forget how unfamiliar the working world is for young adults. The Career Ready programme provides an opportunity for employers to share their experiences and skills.”

The first Technical Skills Academy students to benefit from the Career Ready programme are studying on the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business with Personal Business Finance.
