Learning support

We believe that everyone should be supported to improve their job prospects and opportunities for further study.

Additional learning support is available to students with learning difficulties or disabilities, and to those who require extra help with literacy, numeracy or language.

Support is available for:
  • Dyslexia, dyspraxia and other specific learning difficulties
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD)
  • Specialist Support Dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Autistic spectrum disorder
  • Physical, mobility or sensory difficulties
  • Personal care
  • General learning difficulties
  • Medical conditions: epilepsy, ME
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Language, literacy or numeracy skills

The support services that we offer may include:

  • Assessment of learning needs to inform support
  • 1:1 support sessions
  • In-class support & notetaking
  • BSL communication support
  • Specialist teaching support – dyslexia/dyspraxia
  • Study skills support
  • Exam access arrangements
  • Assistive technology
  • Adapted documents and materials, e.g. large print, coloured paper
  • Referral to student wellbeing and counselling
