Join the Barking & Dagenham College Football Academy, run in partnership with Dagenham & Redbridge FC.

You will study for a nationally recognised qualification as well as having fantastic opportunities to develop as a footballer.

You'll either study towards a Level 2 or a Level 3 qualification alongside your training, either in sport or another subject area. The Level 3 qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels, so once you've finished your studies you'll have the opportunity to progress to university or into a job.

Apply now to join our next trial

Places in the Football Academy are limited, so we encourage you to attend a trial and to secure your place as soon as possible. We run regular trial sessions throughout the year. Once you've applied on this page, we'll be in contact with you soon to invite you to our next available trial date.

Your time with our Football Academy will include:

  • Opportunities to trial and play with the Daggers' youth team
  • Playing in the National Youth Alliance League
  • Training three times a week and playing at one of our Academy teams on Wednesdays
  • Youth team under-18s trials and first-team development games
  • A chance to participate in our annual residential Seville FC (Spain) tour
  • The opportunity to gain coaching badges
  • Physiotherapist access

Exams and assessments will depend on the level and course that you study whilst being part of our Football Academy.

You'll need to be 16 - 19 years of age on 31st August to be eligible to join us in the September of the same year.

If you successfully complete a Level 2 qualification, you'll be able to progress to a Level 3 course or Apprenticeship either in sport or another subject area.

If you complete a Level 3 qualification, you'll have the option to progress to university to study towards a degree, sign up for an Apprenticeship or apply for a range of job roles.

As you'll have developed your footballing skills and experience too, you'll also have the chance to apply for an American Football scholarship on completion of your studies.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
