Our Film School provides a great introduction to film production.

You'll learn about all aspects of film production and quickly develop some of the practical skills needed to pursue a career in this exciting and creative industry.

You'll study in the Idris Elba Film Studio and have access to state-of-the-art production equipment, which is as good as the equipment you'll find in the top film studios.

On this short course you will learn about all aspects of film production. This will include:

  • Pre-production
  • Camera work
  • Directing
  • Editing
  • Location management

There are no formal assessments on this short course. Lecturers and technical trainers will informally assess you and provide feedback during practical sessions to ensure that you are developing essential film production skills.

There are no entry requirements for this course. You'll need to show a passion for film production, want to develop your practical skills and increase your knowledge about the film industry.

On completion of this short course you'll have developed an initial understanding of all aspects of film production, which will help you to decide what you'd like to pursue further.

You could further develop your skills, knowledge and experience by progressing to our full-time Film Media course or our Access to Higher Education in Creative Digital Media.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
