If you've not yet decided what course or career you want to pursue, or want to take a little more time to assess your future options - we're here to support you.

On our Step 2 Success course we'll help you boost your employability and life skills, and build your confidence. You'll have the opportunity to explore your strengths and improve your weaknesses, be creative and have fun!

The course is tailored to your needs; we'll explore a range of different career options and support you with the next steps you'll need to take to get there. Learn how business works, how to make money and how to be successful.

There are regular start dates available to join us. Be the one to make it happen!

This course will focus on supporting you to:

  • Develop a positive, can-do mindset that will help you to achieve your potential.
  • Gain the confidence to be proactive in your own personal development
  • Take responsibility for the next step of your journey.

We'll work with you to find out what motivates you, visualise what success looks like to you and set goals to help you get there.

You'll come up with a business idea, learn how to brand and market it, and learn how to interview and hire staff to run the business. Pitch your business idea to your class and see if they'll invest in you!

We'll also invite local businesses in to talk about their experience. Ask them about their career journey, their motivations and any tips for success.

You will be assessed in class, demonstrating that you are developing the skills needed for further study or employment.

You'll also have access to:

  • Student Support Advisors - trained motivators to help you stay on track with the course
  • Enrichment activities - including football, basketball, table tennis, and much more. Enjoy the fun side of college with friends and join the BDC community
  • Counsellors - who can assist you with any personal problems that you may encounter.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. You'll need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for wanting to learn something new.

On completion of this course you'll have developed your confidence, employability skills and life skills so you're ready to take the next step in your future. You can progress onto further study in a vocational subject area at Level 1 or into employment.
