On this 2-year course, you'll develop a broad understanding of the computing sector.

You'll explore a choice of areas, enabling progression to either higher education, employment or an apprenticeship in the computing sector.

Year 2 units

  • Planning and Management of Computer Projects
  • Software Design and Development Project
  • Computer Games Development
  • Mobile Apps Development
  • Relational Database Development
  • Managing and Supporting Systems
  • Systems Analysis and Design

Assessment includes a range of types and styles using a set of work-related real-life case studies and practical demonstrations.

You will complete external, internal and synoptic exams, assignments and timed projects.

To be eligible to join this course you will need:

  • At least four GCSEs at Grades 4 / C or above including English and Maths
  • or a Level 2 Diploma in IT and Level 2 qualification achieved in English and Maths.
  • Other related Level 2 qualifications and having achieved Level 2 qualification in English and Maths. (offer subject to a successful interview with the Course Leader).

On successful completion of the course, you can progress onto an Undergraduate course at the University, a Level 3/4 Apprenticeship or can start Junior level employment in the following areas:

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
