A Site Carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components. They may be working from the initial erection of a new building through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as on a range of repair and maintenance activities.
To join the programme you'll need English, Maths & ICT GCSEs (or O Levels) at grade 3(D) or above.
If you haven't got these qualifications there'll be a requirement to undertake equivalent Level 1 Functional Skills courses alongside your apprenticeship.
On completion of the programme you'll have the option to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship Standard in Carpentry and Joinery.
You could alternatively look to secure employment as a Site Carpenter or Architectural Joiner.
Successfully completing the programme will mean you meet the requirements of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) ‘Skilled Worker’ standard.
The standard is widely accepted in the sector as a ‘licence to operate’ in a skilled construction trade.
