These new graded qualifications provide a broad introduction to a sector and give learners the opportunity to demonstrate increased skill levels. Learners will develop the necessary transferable and sector skills to progress more quickly. This qualification is for learners wishing to forge a career in the Film industry.

This programmes includes a range of units which will develop both employability/transferable skills plus subject specific skills. The units covered are: Being Organised; Developing a Personal Progression Plan; Working with Others; Researching a Topic; Creating a Storyboard; Producing an Advert; Creating an Animation; Shooting a Short Film; Making an Audio Recording; Editing and Sharing a Media Product

Learners will be assessed via internal assignment briefs. There are no external exams.

Learners will be timetabled for 8.5 hours per week plus 3 hours per week for English & Maths lessons. In addition they will also have a 1 hour tutorial session.

Learners must have 3 GCSEs at grades 2 or above or English & Maths at Entry Level 3.

All our teaching staff are highly skilled, enthusiastic and very experienced within the film industry.

We have many links with high profile employers within the filming industry.

This course will lead to our BTEC Level 2 in Film programme.

Where it can lead to

There are number of routes you can take following successful completion of a course. Further study can include Higher Education courses or a Higher Apprenticeship where you will expand your skills through study whilst earning a wage. Or you may choose to move directly into employment.
